New Catalogue Hop June 2017

June 2017 New Catalogue Blog hop – well nearly!

I will become a regular blogger! I’m starting to enjoy it and find my way around the site. Still loads of widgets and plugins to add ahahaha! I need to find out what a Ninja Form is too!

However I do know what a permalink is so with that I can take part in blog hops and I’m thrilled to be taking part in this years New Catalogue Hop with this cheerful wee card. This card is almost too simple but I think very effective.

Unfortunately this post didn’t make it to the blog hop due to a wifi failure while I was on holiday but I have published it now so that you can at least see it. – maybe next time I will be successful.

I have used a card from Color Theory Memories and More cards and a sheet from Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack on a Crushed Curry card base and added a greeting from Beautiful You stamped with Early Espresso on Whisper White and punched with Pretty Label, then backed with Crushed Curry.

Birthday Blog Hop Card

I am so excited to be taking part in The Pootles Birthday Club during the week of my 60th Birthday. I made this card for my old school chum – we have now been friends for 47 years! I was inspired by a fellow Stampin’ Up! colleague who made a similar card. I have used 2 stamp sets, a punch and 2 die sets and a piece of Designer Series Paper! I know – I’m sorry but these are sets that everyone would want in their collection. If you don’t have these sets I’m sure you can use this technique with something else. If you want to buy any of these items I would be delighted if you choose me to be your demonstrator by buying from my site by clicking on any of the items listed below the picture.

Technique/recipe!

I did use a card blank 17.2 cm square which is available in any craft shop as I wanted this card to be a statement! The first layer is Fresh Florals Berry Burst Designer Series Paper 16.8 cm squared. Next a layer of Whisper White 16.4 squared is stamped and embossed as described below.

First I used Garden in Bloom to stamp the flower outline with versamark and heat embossed that with Stampin Emboss Powder in Gold. I water coloured the flowers with Wink of Stella and Daffodil Delight, Berry Burst and Powder Pink inks. Next I stamped the dragonflies with lemon lime twist and squeezed in a few bees in Basic Black and water coloured in with Daffodil Delight and jazzledazzled the insects up with Wink of Stella on their wings.

The sentiment is stamped with Label Me Pretty on whisper white and punched with Pretty Label. It is accented with a Berry Burst also punched with Pretty Label. (Ask me and I will show you how).

I cut circles in Berry Burst and Whisper White with Layering Circles Framelits. The numbers are cut with Berry Burst and Large Number Framelits.

The card is assembled with SNAIL adhesive and Stampin’ Dimensionals. I hope you like it

Birthday Brights

I am taking a while to get this new blog up and running – my brain struggles with all the techie stuff. So please feel free to contact me to point out errors or suggest improvements. I appreciate all the help I can get.

As June is my Birthday month, and this year its a big one, I plan to bring you a series of Birthday cards using some of the new items in the new catalogue and also using some of the sets that have carried over.

Anyway I wanted to show you this card I came up with the other day when it was raining and grey outside. I wanted something to brighten my day up so spent my time crafting in bright colours.

The base card is in basic black and is 15cm x 15cm once folded. I added a layer of whisper white stamped with basic black using my very favourite touches of texture stamp set. The squares of whisper white are 5cm and are stamped using the texture background stamp in the colour that they are matted on to.

The colours I have used for the 5.4 cm square mats are Lemon Lime Twist, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point and Crushed Curry.

The Greeting is from the beautiful Label Me Pretty stamp set and punched out with the Pretty Label Punch. I have punched out in Pumpkin Pie and cut that in half to make a backing for my greeting. I have then adhered that with dimensionals.

I hope you agree this is very simple to make yet very effective.

One Colour Stamping

I was invited to a ladies craft club that meet about an hour from my hometown. These ladies have way more crafting experience than me but I was told that some of them hadn’t stamped before. I was unsure what to demonstrate so I thought use a stamp set that I love and one colour of ink and just keep it to a single layer stamped card.

Here is what I came up with – a very effective card I think

one colour stamping

The back ground is stamped using the lace stamp from Touches of Texture. I only inked the stamp once and stamped with it four times – that is how I achieved the different shades going from light to dark. I then stamped the flowers and stems and added a sentiment.

I stamped onto a piece of whisper white 10.1 cm x 14.4 cm then stuck that on to the base card with Snail. The base card was made using a sheet Rose Red card cut in half long ways at 10.5 cm then folded in half to make a tent style card.

This is a great card for introducing stamping to new people and it can easily be stepped up in many ways.
